Tucked deep in the Garhwal Himalayas, Govind Pashu Vihar National Park (also known as Govind Wildlife Sanctuary) spans 958 sq km across Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, with altitudes ranging from 1,300 to 6,323 metres. Established in 1955 and named after freedom fighter Govind Ballabh Pant, the sanctuary shelters endangered species such as the snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan tahr, and Western Tragopan, alongside more than 150 bird species including the Himalayan monal and bearded vulture.
